QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS

Are you qualified to solemnize a marriage in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
Yes . . I received a “hands on” ordination, and I am a minister of a regularly established church or congregation that meets on a scheduled basis.

Do you perform outdoor wedding ceremonies?
Yes . . my specialty is UNIQUE SETTING/OUTDOOR CEREMONIES (merry-go-rounds, gazebos, hotels, parks, inns, gardens, resorts, vineyards, historical sites, mansions, country clubs, hospitals,  social clubs or your Grandmother’s front porch) BUT if you only want a CIVIL OR SIMPLE CEREMONY at a local restaurant at 5PM on a Saturday evening, I can do that also.

What type of ceremonies do you conduct?
Simple/Civil (non-religious) . . Romantic . . Spiritual . . Interfaith . . Christian . . Renewal of Vows . . Commitment . . . Encore (or Second) Wedding . . Encore Wedding With Children . . A Mature or Senior Couple Who Have Been Previously Married . . A Couple Who Have Both Been Divorced . . Hawaiian Theme . . Native American Theme . . Your Theme.  My wedding ceremonies are short, simple and a memorable experience for you and your guests.

Where do you perform wedding ceremonies?
My professional services cover the area of Adams, York, and Lancaster Counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (from Gettysburg to Gap). I live in York.

Will you perform a wedding ceremony on a Sunday?
Yes. I have conducted wedding ceremonies as early as 9AM on a Monday morning and as late as 8PM on a Sunday evening.

Is it possible to meet you before we give you a deposit or sign any paperwork?
Yes . . . a 60 – 90  minute meeting can be arranged. At that time I will show you photographs from actual weddings . . previous ceremonies that I have conducted . . and Thank You notes/reference letters from recent Brides and Grooms. A meeting can be held in the morning or in the late afternoon/early evening (meetings are “by appointment” only).

Can you help us find a ceremony and/or reception site?
When you contract my services you will be informed of the many non-traditional settings or sites in this tri-county area (Adams, Lancaster and York Counties) plus I have actual wedding photographs from many of these sites.  If you would like to see these photographs or obtain more information about these sites, you are welcome to make an appointment for a 60 – 90 minute meeting.

We don’t want a big wedding, we don’t want to get married at home, and we hate the idea of getting married at the Justice of the Peace’s office.  Are there any places that welcome small weddings?

Starting November 1, 2003
I will be officiating wedding ceremonies at a local Bed and Breakfast (in Lancaster County ) for the price of $99. The officiating fee of $99 only applies to this location. For more information about the ceremony, availability, and the guidelines of this offering send me an E-mail or give me a call at 717-846-2680. For information about the availability at The Noble House in Marietta ( Lancaster County ), contact Paul Noble at 717-426-4389. The Noble House is an historical home in an historical town; picturesque, and worthy of your small wedding, commitment ceremony or renewal of vows. These ceremonies should not require a rehearsal; and they can be arranged in a very short period of time. Please keep your guest list to “about twenty (20) people or less.” Your wedding ceremony can be conducted in the Grand Parlor or out in the garden. If you would like to see the indoor and outdoor ceremony sites before your wedding day, please contact Paul Noble (tours are given “by appointment” only).

We just decided to get married, are you available on short notice?
Give me a call at 717-846-2680 . . or send me an E-mail . . Avissbrangan@yahoo.com.

There is always a chance I have an open date, especially the months of November through April. Please let me know if you have made any plans, and what they are.  I have a large selection of prepared ceremonies, and you will be given the opportunity to choose one of those.

We had a five minute wedding ceremony last year in a Judge’s office and now we want a “real” wedding. Can we get married again?  Can my Dad walk me down the aisle?   Can you help us?

There is nothing wrong with wanting to do it all over again, only bigger and better. There are a lot of things you can do, and there a few things you shouldn’t do, but no matter what you do, it should be done with dignity and in good taste.  Please note:  a second wedding ceremony is NOT a Renewal of Vows.

Can we write our own vows? Can my best friend read a poem?
You are welcome to participate in the content and design of your ceremony, matter-of-fact, I encourage it. But if time does not permit that process I have a selection of prepared ceremonies.

Do we have to participate in premarital counseling or personal interviews?
No . . I do not pass judgment on anyone’s life.

I live in Baltimore, my fiancé lives in Chicago, and we’re getting married in Strasburg (PA), how do we put a wedding ceremony together long distance?
I try to make the process as simple and uncomplicated as possible (and thank goodness for E-mail!).

Do we have to meet with you several times before the wedding?
If you would like to meet me before the wedding to discuss, organize, plan, and/or create your ceremony you are welcome to do so, but it is not a requirement.  There have been many times when I have not met the Bride and Groom until the day of the rehearsal or the day of the wedding.

What are your qualifications and/or credentials?
I am a Certified Wedding Specialist, a Professional Bridal Consultant and an Ordained Nondenominational Minister.  I have been a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants for several years. I can help you plan your wedding . . . organize your wedding . . .  direct your wedding rehearsal . . or officiate at your wedding ceremony.

And as of January 2008, I will start Marriage Education sessions for those couples who are engaged or plan to marry in the future.  These courses are designed for and directed to those couples that are living together now . . have never lived together . . or have been previously married (divorced or widowed) with or without children. For more information and details go to the “Are we ready to get married?” page.

“Meet With An Expert”

Before you make some bad decisions!
Before you make a lot of costly mistakes!
It is just as important to know what NOT to do as it is what to do.

For those of you who want to do something different or who need help right from the beginning (finding a ceremony site in this tri-county area, selecting invitations, choosing appropriate attire for the time of day or setting, creating a realistic budget, solving family problems, developing a theme) I can be hired as a Bridal Consultant/Wedding Specialist to help you.  Wouldn’t you rather have your friends and family members say, “What a great idea!” instead of “What were they thinking?” This 60 – 90 minute meeting will give you the information, details and confidence you need to make appropriate decisions for your wedding. You can “Meet with an Expert” in the morning or in the late afternoon/early evening.

Availability and pricing inquiries will be answered in a timely manner if the following information is provided.
The date of your ceremony . . Sunday, December 20, 2009

The time of your ceremony . . 2PM

The exact location of your ceremony . . Evergreen Country Club, 27 Spruce Road, Pineville, PA

Wedding professionals and service providers need to know where they are going and what time they have to be there.

Do you envision walking down a hand-carved staircase in a HISTORIC MANSION dressed in a flowing gown?
Reciting your vows in the grand parlor of a BED AND BREAKFAST ?

Exchanging rings in the center of a GARDEN filled with sunshine?
OR
Standing under the wings of an OLD MAGNOLIA TREE as you are pronounced HUSBAND AND WIFE?
Then give me a call at 717-846-2680
